As we watch the frightening scenes of our neighboring states and experience the smoke-related poor air quality, it brings into sharp focus the risks we face during the 2020 fire season. Historically, the risks last well into November.
In fact, in November 2011, the Caughlin Ranch fire came dangerously close to burning completely through Meadowridge. For those who have moved into Meadowridge since the board thought it important to let you know about the seriousness of that fire, which caused the loss of five homes in Meadowridge and the evacuation of all residents.
While we recommend all homeowners take precautions and create defensible space, those with homes that back up to the Evans Creek ditch way may want to do even more.
