The latest proposal to redevelop the site of the former Lakeridge Tennis Club involves building 314 condos on the 9.3-acre parcel, in eight 4-story buildings that will tower over the quiet neighborhood consisting of 2 story homes and 2 story apartments. Reno’s Planning Commission will hold a hearing on Wednesday, March 17th to decide whether to approve a Tentative Map and Minor Conditional Use Permit to allow building more than 20 units on the property.
Anyone who commutes on S. McCarran in the area of Lakeside Drive and Plumas Street knows the tremendous congestion drivers now experience, even as the site of the Tennis Club remains empty. The intersection of Lakeside and S. McCarran has already received a grade of “F” by public traffic officials, the worst possible score. This project will add 314 condos with potentially 700 or more daily drivers along with increased on-street parking to that congested area.
If you wish to comment on the proposal, please let the Planning Commission know. Please use Reno’s ID for this project “LDC21-00036” to make sure the staff knows where to post and file your comments.
